Locating PVC conduit in Staten Island, New York

A general contractor based out of New York recently contacted the Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS), New York City office. The focus of their project was to detect embedded pvc conduit and other subsurface obstructions for 6 core drilling locations. The project was located in Staten Island, NY which a featured a new shopping plaza development for the local community.

When GPRS arrived, Project Manager Brian Nicholson performed a site walk with the on-site personnel. After the initial walkthrough, it did not appear that there were conduits within the area. However, after some initial scans with the GPR unit and using the Electromagnetic Detector, GPRS was able to verify multiple conduits within the scanned spaces. All marks were made in real time and were verified on site. The client received a full explanation of what existed in the slab before GPRS finished for the day. The conduits were color coded in red spray paint and the approximate depths of all conduits were labeled.
